This means that you can purchase the EZ-TESTER ST with basic STS-1 and
DS3, and then add more capabilities as your testing requirements expand...
without having to replace your unit or suffer expensive and complicated
upgrade procedures. Most options are downloadable and only require a modem
connection. Downloading is simple, using Electrodata's OnCall®
feature built right into the test set. If a hardware upgrade is required,
a same-day turn-around in the service center is easily scheduled. Currently,
only the addition of MF, DS3 or STS-1 (options 08, 20 and 30 ) require
hardware upgrades. Best of all, there is NO CHARGE for software updates
to existing options and the basic operating system. Electrodata protects
your investment and keeps your cost of ownership low, from the initial
purchase through the foreseeable future.

. STS and DS3, plus single line DS1
For any configuration with Single DS1, the following options can be added
at an affordable price:
Fractional T1 (FT1) - (Option 01)
The Fractional T1 option provides the ability to test contiguous and noncontiguous
56 x N and 64 x N fractional T1 circuits and equipment.
ESF / SLC-96 Monitoring and Control - (Option 03)
This optional capability allows the monitoring and control of information
in the Facility Datalink when ESF framing is used, or the SLC-96 datalink
when SLC-96 framing is used. This includes the ability to detect or force
PRMs, ASBs and alarms as well as far-end loop commands, maintenance messages
and protection switch commands.
Performance Statistics Retrieval - (Option 04)
The EZ-TESTER ST provides an optional support capability for advanced Network
Interface Units (NIUs) which gather performance data at a customer's premises.
The EZ-TESTER can retrieve performance statistics and control these devices
from an interface at the customer site, from a DSX location in the central
office, or through a maintenance switch which supports a non-intrusive
connection.
Addressable Repeater and Maintenance Switch Control - (Option 05)
Loopback and test procedures are greatly simplified when the Addressable
Repeater and Maintenance Switch Control option is employed. Command and
test sequences are accomplished using the EZ-TESTER ST's commands and its
plain language interpretation of responses.
Dial / Supervision - (Option 06)
This option provides the necessary operations to originate or terminate
a call into a digital switch or PBX from a DSX or other T1 access point.
It also provides the ability to test Switched 56 services by establishing
a data line through the public switched network to a test line or remote
DSU/CSU. A user defined sequence of phone number plus access codes can
be sent or captured along with signaling events such as a wink, off-hook
or on-hook.
Computer Enhanced Testing (CET) - (Option 07)
The CET option expands the remote control capability of the EZ-TESTER and
supports a user friendly environment for the PC user. Electrodata provides
software, which operates within Windows®,
to control an EZ-TESTER with the CET option.
MF Dial/Capture - (Option 08)
This hardware option supplements the Dial/Supervision option by enabling
MF dial and digit capture with your EZ-Tester. This option must be installed
at the factory.
Primary Rate ISDN - (Option 09)
This option is used to test Primary Rate ISDN circuits at the central office
or at the customer location. It simulates the customer equipment and allows
the placing and receiving of either data or voice calls. It will test 23B+D
circuit configurations (or 23B+D and 24B with the use of a second test
set).
Terminal Emulation - (Option 10)
This option allows the EZ-Tester to interact as a terminal with HDSL and
PMDNI Digital Network Interface units both in the central office and in
the field. The advantage to you is that a separate terminal or PC is not
required to access the wealth of information and capability provided by
the HDSL and PMDNI hardware. This option enables field technicians to obtain
access this equipment without having to carry a separate terminal device.
DDS Channel Testing - (Option 11)
The DDS (Digital Data Service) Channel Testing option allows you to test
DDS circuits and equipment from a T1 access point. This option offers full
BERT capabilities using DDS-1 through DDS-6 stress patterns and 63, 127,
511 and 2047 pseudorandom patterns. It includes latching and non-latching
loopback codes, and has the ability to detect and generate control codes.
[Supports 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 56, and 64 Kbps data rates.]
GR-303 Test Access - (Option 12)
The GR-303 Test Access option provides functions for testing loop access
systems as described in Bellcore's GR-303-CORE, "IDLC Generic Requirements,
Objectives, and Interface." Capabilities: Captures and displays Time-slot
Management Channel (TMC) and Embedded Operations Channel (EOC) data; Filters
on layer (2 and 3), CRV, and abnormal cause codes with both pre and post
capture capability and timestamps captured messages; Displays raw and decoded
hybrid signaling (ABCD) codes.
If Option 12 and Option 3 are both installed, GR-303 Test Access will
include ESF performance statistics retrieval.
If Option 12 and Option 10 are both installed, GR-303 Test Access will
provide craft interface access via the RS-232 port.
SS#7 Capture / Analysis - (Option 13)
The SS#7 Capture / Analysis option provides functions for analyzing Signaling
System #7 common channel signaling as described in Bellcore's GR-246-CORE,
"Bell Communications Research Specification of Signaling System Number
7" on 56K and 64K SS7 link channels. In the MSU Analysis mode, the test
set captures and time-stamps Message Signaling Units (MSU) that appear
on the SS7 link channel. Captured messages, selected by pre- and post-capture
filtering, can be displayed in detail on an "expanded" screen to show the
contents of all available message fields. In the SU/MSU mode, the test
set provides running totals on two seperate screens of Signaling Units
(SU) and MSUs appearing on the link. During the monitoring period, the
test set counts the messages as they are detected and continuously increments
a series of counters that show the results as totals, subtotals, and percentage
of message types. The SU Analysis mode also displays the number of message
re-transmissions by counting inverted Forward Indicator Bits (FIB) and
Backward Indicator Bits (BIB).
Frame Relay Testing - (Option 14)
The Frame relay testing option adds basic test and analysis capabilities
to the EZ-TESTER ST for verifying link functionality and connectivity on
permanent virtual circuits (PVC). With this option installed, the test
set can automatically poll the link to identify the protocol: FRF-LMI,
ANSI T1.617-D, or ITU-T Q.993-A, and report the status of DLCIs. The test
set will provide real time statistical data for all or individual DLICs
such as total frames detected; number of frame errors; number of FECN,
BECN, and DE frames; total octets; and DLCI throughput. This option also
enables the test set to test connectivity by initiating and responding
to IP PINGs.
Other options available for both the DS3/STS-1 and the DS3/STS-1/DS1
configuration are:
Far End Alarm and Control (FEAC) - (Option 21)
The FEAC option allows the test set to display far end alarm and status
information via the FEAC channel and to transmit FEAC messages from the
near end to test far end responses. The FEAC option also allows the test
set to initiate DS3 loopbacks from a DS3 access point and DS1 loopbacks
from a DS3 access point if Option 00 is installed.
STS-1 SONET with Byte-Sync VT1.5 - (Option 31)
This option adds byte-sync VT1.5 payload capability to the async VT1.5
capability provided with the STS-1 function of the basic instrument.
Optical testing options for the LIGHT-MATE I and LIGHT-MATE II
Dual Transmit Wavelengths (LIGHT-MATE II) - (Option 61)
