Whenever Electrodata adds a new option to a test set, improves its operation, or discovers and corrects a "bug" in the operating firmware, the firmware is changed and a revision number is assigned. Naturally, the latest firmware is installed in newly purchased equipment before it leave the factory. Since firmware revisions are often made after equipment has left the factory, Electrodata has included a feature called OnCall in the TTS-3 EZ-TESTER Series test sets and COMM-WATCH that allows you to download the latest firmware directly from the factory.

It needs only a working phone jack and a Hayes-compatible modem 

1. First, visit the "Rev Update" page on this web site and check the current revision posted for your equipment. 

2a. For the original TTS-3 T1 Test Set, turn on the power. The firmware version (6-digit number)and revision code (letter and number) will appear briefly on the screen. 

2b. For the TTS-3 EZ-TESTER Series test sets, turn on the test set and press F1 to freeze the first screen. The firmware version and revision code are shown on the lower part of the screen. 

2c. For the COMM-WATCH, click on the COMM-WATCH icon on your PC to start the COMM-WATCH program, then connect with the COMM-WATCH. When the screen is active, click on Help and "About Comm-Watch". The firmware version and revision number are on the bottom line. 

1. On the TTS-3, be sure power is off. Then hold down the SETUP key and turn on power to cause the test set to display PROGRAM LOAD setup menu (This was the name before OnCall!) Then follow the simple instructions in the Firmware Upgrade paragraph in the Operating Manual. 

2a. On the TTS-3 EZ-TESTER Series test sets, turn on the test set and go to OnCall UPDATE at the bottom of the MAIN MENU. Press ENTER and follow the directions on the screen. 

2b. For the COMM-WATCH, click on the COMM-WATCH icon on your PC to start the COMM-WATCH program, then connect with the COMM-WATCH. When the screen is active, click on Setup and "Call Operation." Then follow the instructions located in the Software and Firmware Upgrades paragraph in the COMM-WATCH User Manual.

OnCall makes installing test options easy, too! The majority of the EZ-TESTER Series add-on options are downloadable via OnCall. As your testing needs expand, select the option you wish to add to your test set, call in your purchase order, and use OnCall to download your new option. Your firmware is automatically updated at the same time.
