The Line Interface Unit plugs into the front of a network interface unit (NIU) at the central office or remote terminal to provide T1 test access. When plugged in, a test set can be connected to the transmit and receive sides of the T1 through two sets of Bantam jacks marked EQUIP OUT, EQUIP IN, MON EQUIP and LINE IN, LINE OUT, and MON LINE.
